Obituary for Evelyn E. Brondyke
EVELYN E. BRONDYKE, 88, of Prairie Hills of Clinton, Clinton, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Prairie Hills. Evelyn was born March 5, 1922 in Fenton Township, IL, to Edward G. and Anna (Huizenga) Hein. She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. Evelyn married Albert J. Brondyke on April 18, 1941 in Fulton. He died April 20, 2003. Evelyn was employed by the Clinton Garment Factory and Decker"s Grocery Store and Bud"s Foodliner both of Fulton. She worked at her mother"s restaurant, A&H Tea Room, as a waitress. She was employed by Fidelty Life Insurance Company in Fulton, as a receptionist for Dr. Wiegandt, and by the Fulton Journal. Evelyn was a member of First Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School and catechism, was a Bethel Bible Study Series teacher and participated in Helping Hands Society, King"s Daughters, and Missionary Society. She was a member of Lay Witness Mission. Most recently, Evelyn had been attending the First Baptist Church in Clinton. She enjoyed sewing, making numerous Dutch costumes and hats, crocheting, and was an avid reader. Survivors include one daughter, Rita (Larry) Zeeryp of Fulton, Il; one son, Arnold R. "Arnie" (Pam) Brondyke of Preston, IA; six grandchildren, Scott (Diane) Brondyke, Jeff (Miyesca) Brondyke, Trisha (Steve) McIntosh, Lori (Ed) Cole, Emily (Tim) Daley, Dan (Mika) Zeeryp; two step grandchildren, Joel (Jenny) Driscoll and Joshua (Trista) Driscoll; fifteen great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.
