Obituary for Eunice G. Rick-Still
EUNICE G. RICK-STILL, 91, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, died Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, IL. Eunice was born October 1, 1923, in Morrison, to William and Anna (Dykhuizen) Akker. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and she attended Morrison High School. After high school she graduated from the McGovern School for Cosmetology and Hairdressing in Moline, IL. Eunice married Bert Rick on May 8, 1943 in Alexandria, LA. She later married Paul O. Still on February 14, 1987 in Thomson, IL. He died on May 26, 1990. Eunice owned and operated Eunice"s Beauty Shop in Morrison. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the church"s Ladies Aid Society. When she lived in Thomson, IL, she attended and served in the United Methodist Church as a youth leader and played the organ and piano. She was also a member of the Morrison and Thomson American Legion Auxiliaries, a member of Wa-Tan-Ye and a member of the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association. Eunice enjoyed church activities, gardening, spending time with her family and helping others. She also sewed lap robes for veterans. Survivors include two sons, Dan (Jane) Rick of Holiday, FL and Kim (Mary) Rick of Rochelle, IL; two step daughters, Cathy (Steve) Akker of Chadwick, IL and Susan Still of Morrison; three grandchildren, Victor (Lisa) Rick, Justin Rick, Skylar Rick; three step grandchildren, Aimee Murphy, Paul Jeremy Still, Eric Birely; four great grandchildren; eight great step grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother, Louis Akker of Morrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one brother, Rev. Levi Akker.
