Obituary for Eugene H. Wollesen
EUGENE H. WOLLESEN, 75, of 218 W. 2nd Street, Lyndon, IL, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison, IL.Eugene was born October 2, 1931, in Morrison, IL to Henry and Helen (Jacobsen) Wollesen. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Betty J. Taylor on September 12, 1954 in Lyndon, IL. Gene along with his family owned and operated the Crow Valley Camp Ground in Sterling, IL until 1995. He was also employed with General Electric in Morrison, IL for 31 years. Gene was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL, the Morrison V.F.W Post # 8281 and the Morrison American Legion Post # 328. He served as a member of the Lyndon Fire Department for 30 years retiring in 1992. As a member of the 1949 Morrison Basketball team, Gene was inducted into the Morrison High School Hall of Fame in 2001.Survivors include his wife, Betty; one daughter, Tammy Wollesen of Lyndon, IL; one son, Bryan Wollesen of Lyndon, IL; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Janssen of Lyndon, IL. He was preceded in death by two sisters Arlene Pape and Evelyn Oetting.
