Obituary for Eugene E. Kuehl
EUGENE "GENE" E. KUEHL, 66, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, after losing his courageous battle with cancer. Gene was born September 21, 1948, in Morrison, IL, to Maurice J. and Elinor J. (Kraft) Kuehl. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart and the Sharpshooter Badge. Gene married Susan J. Bagby in 1976 in Morrison, IL. He was first employed by IBP in Joslin, IL and more recently was employed as a millwright by the former Clinton Corn Processing Company (ADM) in Clinton, IA, retiring after more than 30 years of service. Gene enjoyed bass fishing, spending time with friends, family, and attending grandchildren"s sporting functions. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include a special friend, Joyce Wilkens; two daughters, Melisa (Brian) Hoemke of Rockford, IL and Amy (Vinny) Polise of Fulton, IL; three sons, Robert (Kim) Kuehl of Albany, IL; Jacob (Peggy) Kuehl of East Peoria, IL; and Joseph (Jessie) Kuehl of Morrison, IL; fifteen grandchildren, Lukas and Lyla Hoemke, Austin Buikema, Deseray VanDamm, Madison Mackey, Isaiah Boonstra, Kari and Devin Kuehl, Gavin Boutwell, Noah and Isabella Kuehl, Joseph Kuehl, Logan Lewis, Kyle and Gracelynn Kuehl; one sister, Joyce (Doug) Bland of Rock Falls, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Amanda Kuehl; one sister, Judith Schipper, and one brother, Richard in infancy.
