Obituary for Eugene Bush
EUGENE BUSH, 88, of 744 Milnes Drive, Morrison, IL, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL. Gene was born on June 9, 1922, in Whiteside County, IL, to Clarence and Henrietta (Bolt) Bush. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. He married Florence B. Bush on November 19, 1943 in Morrison. She died January 27, 1998. He then married Wilma (Blink) Schrader on October 17, 1998. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. Gene was first employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL for 9 years. He then owned and operated Bush Electric Service in Chadwick, IL from 1949 until retiring in 1984. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and served as an usher. He was also a 62 year member of the American Legion Chadwick Post #739; a volunteer member of the Chadwick Fire Dept. for 26 years; and served as mayor of Chadwick for 4 years. He played Santa in Carroll and Whiteside Counties for many years. Gene was the official electrician for the Carroll County Fair for 27 years. He enjoyed his part time farming and motorcycle riding, and was also a skilled wood carver. Survivors include his wife Wilma; two daughters, Kathy Davenport and Susan (James) Griffith of Kewanee, IL; three step daughters, Diane (Bill) North of Poynette, WI, Donna (Jim) Nye of Chadwick, IL and Carol (Keith) Nylin of Clinton, IA; one step son, Terry (Teresa) Schrader of Riverdale, UT; five grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Eloise Bush of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence; three brothers, Donald Bush, Kenneth Bush, and one in infancy.
