Obituary for Eugene A. Albert
EUGENE A. ALBERT, 93, of 513 E. Wall Street, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL. Eugene was born December 1, 1917 in Boston, Missouri to Charles Carl and Florence Elizabeth (Moore) Albert. He married Elvira Victoria Eickhoff on June 13, 1942 in Owatonna, MN. She died April 5, 1991. He farmed all of his life; from 1942 to 1999 in Port Byron, IL. He had dairy cattle from 1948 to 1962 and later started raising registered Black Angus Cattle in 1968. He also worked at the Annawan Sale Barn signing in the cattle at auctions for many years. Eugene retired in 1999 and moved to Morrison. He was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and had served on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Board for many years. He was a lifelong Democrat. Eugene enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, was an old time country music fan and a bluegrass music fan. He loved the Grand Ole Opry. In younger days, he played the guitar and sang country songs at home with family and friends. He attended Senior Meals at Odell Library in Morrison since 2000. He listened to Leo Greco on the radio on Sunday mornings. Eugene enjoyed watching professional bull riding, Lawrence Welk, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Dornon of Morrison, IL; one sister, Virginia Krajnovich of Port Byron, IL; one brother, Donald Albert of Port Byron, IL; and his beloved cat of 22 years, Tammy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira; one daughter, Nancy Albert; one sister, Helen Korb, six brothers, Bernard, Marvin, Russell, Chester, Glen, and Junior Albert. Special thanks to Linda Endress for her many visits over the years, especially all of the wonderful treats she would bring to the house. Also thanks to the Morrison Hospital Skilled Care Staff for their care and support during Eugene"s stay.
