Obituary for Ethel R. Baker
ETHEL R. BAKER, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the nursing home. Ethel was born September 20, 1915 in Albany, IL to Frederick A. and Retta (Wilsonholme) Snyder. She was educated in the Albany Grade Schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1933. Ethel married Arthur F. Baker on July 27, 1940 in Clinton, IA. He died January 22, 1978. Ethel worked at the Icebox Restaurant in Morrison, IL from 1966 to 1992. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church, AARP, and the Whiteside County Extension, where she did many crafts. Ethel enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed entertaining many people. She was an eternal optimist. Survivors include a daughter, Alice Andrews of Sterling, IL; a son, Dale Baker of Morrison, IL; two grandchildren, Amy Mason of DeKalb, IL and Matthew (Angie) Andrews of Milwaukee, WI; one great granddaughter, Madison Andrews; one sister, Mrs. Mary Jensen of Sterling, IL; a son-in-law, John Mason of Hinckley, IL; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; one daughter, Nancy Mason; two sisters, Leona Bailey and Gladys Nelson; three brothers, Harold, Frederick, and Walter Snyder.
