ERWIN “EH” STRALOW, 90, of Morrison, IL, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Chad Bolosan, interim pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation will precede the service starting at 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Lyndon Township Cemetery in Lyndon, IL. A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice.
EH was born on March 28, 1934, in Morrison, IL, to Carl J. and Alma (Folkers) Stralow. He was educated in the Morrison schools and was a 1952 graduate of Morrison High School. From 1954 to 1956, he proudly served in the United States Army as a construction machine operator. On September 30, 1956, he married Phyllis R. Bull in Morrison. EH worked for Stutzke in Rock Falls as a machine operator before entering the trucking industry, founding EH Stralow, Inc. in 1959. In 1979, he co-founded Morrison Blacktop with his sons Kurt and Keith. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated community member, involved in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the Morrison American Legion Post #328, the Lions Club, and serving on the Whiteside County Board. EH enjoyed playing golf and pool and spent countless hours at the Shell gas station, which he fondly referred to as the "Learning Center," sharing stories and laughs with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Phyllis; two daughters, Kathy Stralow of Morrison, IL and Krista (Steve) Huizenga of Colorado; three sons, Kurt (Carol) Stralow, Keith (Bonnie) Stralow and Kenny (Carol) Stralow all of Morrison, IL; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elvira Stralow of Morrison, IL, Esther (Kenneth) Huizenga of Morrison, IL and Anita (Ed) Allison of Flowery Branch, GA; one brother, Cecil Stralow of Murrieta, CA; one sister-in-law, Louise Stralow of Morrison, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold (Anita), Charles (Kay) and Arnold Stralow; sister-in-law, Delores Stralow.
