Obituary for Erna R. Hunter
ERNA R. HUNTER, 84, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Mom walked hand in hand with the Lord for 84 years; at 5:32 on May 1st He picked her up in His arms and carried her away very peacefully from her pain and suffering to bring her to Heaven to be one of his angels. Erna was born July 18, 1926, in Jesup, IA, to William and Edna (Miehe) Weltzin. She was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Elmer Hunter on June 17, 1947, in Paducah, KY. He died May 9, 1960. She then married George Hunter on April 19, 1963 in Morrison. He died January 23, 1999. Erna was a cook for Meals on Wheels for years. She also served as secretary for the First Baptist Church in Morrison for 37 years. Erna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morrison. She was a Die-Hard Cubs Fan. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pessman of Morrison, IL and Debra Kay Roselieb of Seattle, WA; one son, Donald (Nancy) Hunter of Lyndon, IL; four grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Barnhart, Justin Hunter, Jessica Hunter, Justine (Matthew) Jimenez; three sisters, Arlene (James) Wright of Morrison, IL, Gila ( Bill) Cowan of Erie, IL and Marie (Jim) Maxim of Glenn Ava, CA; one sister-in-law, Darlene Weltzin of Morrison, IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands; one grandson, Allen Pessman; one sister, Donna Miller; one brother, Elmer Weltzin; two sons-in-law, Gary Pessman and Jerry Roselieb.
