Obituary for Elva L. Tiesman
ELVA LORRAINE TIESMAN, 91, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the nursing home. Elva was born June 19, 1919, in Nelson, IL, to Harvey and Grace (Struckman) Koser. She was educated in the Wallace Grade School in Sterling, IL and graduated from Sterling High School. She married Mitchell Tiesman on February 26, 1940, in Clinton, IA. He died January 5, 2003. In her early years, Elva was employed by a local Sterling, IL bakery and later years as a homemaker. She enjoyed roller skating with her husband whom she met while roller skating. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, where she participated in the Rebecca Society. She was also a member of the Unity Christian School Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis (Arlyn) Dykhuizen of Sterling, IL, Linda (James) Dykstra of Morrison, IL and Bonnie Drake of Glendale, AZ; two sons, Mitchell (Ruth) Tiesman of Fulton, IL and Doug (Kathy) Tiesman of South Brooklyn, MN; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell; one daughter in infancy, Carol Tiesman; two sisters, Grace Maynard and Florence Koser; three brothers, Ralph Koser, Irvan Koser and Donald Koser, in infancy.
