Obituary for Ellsworth F. Stralow
ELLSWORTH F. STRALOW, 89, of 208 W. Park Street, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton, IA. Ellsworth was born November 18, 1919 in Morrison, IL to William and Lillian (Wolber) Stralow. He was educated in the Center Grade School of rural Whiteside County and was a 1939 graduate of Morrison High School. He married Mary Jane Leseman on September 10, 1950 in Sterling, IL. She died January 23, 2000. He first was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area. Then he was employed by Herman Nelson Manufacturing, Whiteside County Highway Department, the former Wilkens Royal Blue Grocery Store, and most recently the Illinois Dept. of Transportation, until his retirement. Following retirement, he was employed parttime by the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home as a driver and funeral director"s assistant from 1985 until 2000. Ellsworth was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bowling. He was an avid White Sox fan. Survivors include one daughter, Diane (Larry) Tichler of Morrison, IL; one son, Duane (Arnette) Stralow of Rock Falls, IL; four grandchildren, Ashley Tichler, Nathan (Angie Voss) Stralow, Brianne (Shawn) Price, and Megan Stralow; one great grandchild, Dawson Price; and one sister, Dorothy (Howard) Bielema-Nelson of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane.
