Obituary for Eileen J. Detra
EILEEN J. DETRA, 95, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the center. Eileen was born February 14, 1915 in Prophetstown, IL, to William and Grace (Maxfield) Johnson. She attended Prophetstown Grade Schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1933. She married Paul W. Detra on August 21, 1937 in Prophetstown, IL. He died August 2, 1986. Eileen was a homemaker and was employed with the Moline Dispatch for about ten years. Eileen was the oldest living member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Mary Circle. Eileen was a Cub Scout leader, member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Harmon Swinging Square Dance Club. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia (Neil) Giffin of Prophetstown, IL; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Eileen A. Detra of Prophetstown, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one son, Neil Detra; one sister, Leota Bender; two brothers, Robert in infancy and William Johnson.
