Obituary for Eileen G. Bly
EILEEN G. BLY, 81, of 718 " 10th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at her home. Eileen was born November 11, 1924, in Preston, IA, to Matthew E. and Elizabeth S. (Dever) Cain. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Clare High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, both in Clinton, IA. She was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Army Air Corp. She married Donald F. Bly on February 26, 1949 in Preston, IA. He died April 9, 2001. Eileen was employed by Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, IA for 38 years as an obstetrics nurse, during which time she delivered over 4000 babies. She was also privileged to have performed the delivery of four of her grandchildren at home. In 2002 she was inducted into the Mount Saint Clare Hall of Fame. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, IL, belonged to the church"s Altar and Rosary Society and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She established a weekly prayer group in 1972, which is still active today. For many years she was an active volunteer in the Christian Family Movement and co-founded, along with her twin sister, the Share Food Program in Clinton, IA. Most recently she was involved in a move to see that the rosary was recited in the Catholic Church after daily mass. Survivors include four daughters, Colleen (Mrs. Pat) Van Kampen and Maurita (Mrs. Robert) Johnson, both of Clinton, IA; Marguerite (Mrs. Jim) Strom of St. Paul, MN and Monica Bly (and companion) Michelle Compton of Bullard, TX; four sons, Dan (Vicki) Bly of Fulton, IL, Frank (Maureen) Bly of Garland, TX, Pat (Debbie) Bly of Clinton, IA and Dr. Timothy (Kim) Bly of Carlock, IL; 33 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Maureen Witt (her twin), Mrs. Cecelia Sullivan and Mrs. Kathryn Caron, all of Clinton, IA; Angela (Mrs. Bill) McMahon of Cincinnati, OH and Roberta (Mrs. Milton) Oberman of Andrew, IA; two brothers, Francis (Betty) Cain of Dixon, IL and Robert (Joan) Cain of Goose Lake, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; one sister, Mary Margaret McDermott; two brothers, Edward and Raymond Cain.
