Obituary for Edward Medema
EDWARD MEDEMA, 87, of 2820 Oakridge Road, Camanche, IA formerly of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at his home. Ed was born September 22, 1920 in Thomson, IL, to Jake and Helen (Temple) Medema. He was educated in the Morrison, IL grade schools. Ed served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Johanna Vanderlaan on December 3, 1943 in Morrison, IL. He was employed at Groharing Construction in Morrison and later at General Electric in Morrison, where he retired from in 1980. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church where he served as an usher for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, fishing, and watching his grandkids participate in sports. Ed was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Johanna; one daughter, Peggy (Mrs. Kevin) Jenkins of Camanche, IA; one son, Keith (Pam) Medema of Sterling, IL; three grandchildren, Jenni (Mrs. Louis) DeMay, David (Erin) Jenkins, and Kendra Jenkins; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Temple of Fulton, IL and Erma (Mrs. J.D.) McDevitt of Covington, TN; two brothers, George (Sharon) Medema of Prophetstown, IL and Jake (Eleanor) Medema, Jr. of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Ivey and two brothers, Garrett and John Medema.
