Obituary for Edward Doc Snyder
EDWARD E. "DOC" SNYDER, 92, of 306 Scenic Drive, Morrison, IL, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at his home. Ed was born June 16, 1918 in Morrison, IL, to Peter C. and Josie (Vogel) Snyder. He was educated in the Gridley School of rural Whiteside County and was a graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII. Ed married Marian E. Renkes on November 21, 1945 in Morrison, IL. She died September 27, 2007. He was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area for his entire life. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Ed served on the Cottonwood, Union Grove, and Morrison High School Boards. He was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Farmers Elevator. Ed was a member of the Morrison American Legion Post #328 and enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was an avid bowler. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Buikema of Morrison, IL and Cindy (David) Zeglis of Kankakee, IL; one son, Steven (Pamela) Snyder of Eden Prairie, MN; seven grandchildren, Jill (Mark) Tivin, Karen Zeglis, Nicole (John) Havenaar, Kimberly Buikema, Jeffrey (Joan) Snyder, Michael Snyder, and Davis Snyder; three great grandchildren, Josie and Jacob Havenaar and Madison Snyder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; two sisters, Carlene Zuidema and June Mellott.
