Obituary for Edna B. Sikkema
EDNA B. SIKKEMA, 100, of Prairie Hills at Clinton – Clinton, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Prairie Hills.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. It will be preceded by a visitation, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Laura Wessels, Director of Ministries at Second Reformed Church in Fulton will be officiating. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established by the family.
Edna was born on December 22, 1917 in Erie, IL, to Earl and Mary (Hussong) Huizenga. She was educated in the Erie grade schools and was a graduate of Erie High School. She married Wayne W. Sikkema on April 5, 1941 in Lyons, IA. He died July 1, 2011. Edna was a homemaker and talented seamstress. She was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, where she sang in the choir and served with the Ladies Aide and Willing Workers at the church. Edna was an avid Cubs Fan.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Marv) Norman of Noblesville, IN; one son, Gary (Cheryl) Sikkema of Fulton; three grandchildren, Stacey (John) Dail, Terry (Shawna) Sikkema and Robin (Will) Snider; seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; two grandsons, Eric Norman and Mark Norman; five sisters, Joyce Temple, Shirley Huizenga in infancy, Kathryn “Kay” Hamilton, Marie Pelletier and Grace DeWeerdt; two brothers, Johnny Huizenga and E. Donald Huizenga.
