Obituary for Douglas B. Daniels
DOUGLAS B. DANIELS, 55, of 1001 First Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Doug was born November 24, 1951, in St. James, MN to Trueman and Joan (Lyon) Daniels. He graduated from Browerville (MN) High School in 1969 and received his B.A. in Sociology from Bemidji State University, Bemidji, MN. He served in the Air Force. He married Susan K. Krone on July 3, 1999 in Clinton, IA. Doug worked as a logistics management specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in Sept. of 2005. Following retirement he attended nursing school at Clinton Community College. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served on the visitation and intern committees, and worked at the church"s community meals. He was a befriender at Genesis Hospitals in Davenport. Doug was an avid bicyclist and participated in many organized rides, including the 2006 RAGBRAI. He enjoyed running with his two St. Bernards, Bonnie and Clyde. Survivors include his wife, Susan; two daughters, Leah (Mrs. Ken) Jensen of Staples, MN and Kristin (Mrs. Brian) Nelson of Randall, MN; one son, Christopher Daniels of Ames, IA; two stepsons, Christopher and Matthew Appuhn, both at home; six grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Joan Daniels of Harlingen, TX; one sister, Carol Daniels of Sauk Rapids, MN; two brothers, Todd (Donna) Daniels of Bemidji, MN and Scott (Marcia) Daniels of Springfield, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Trueman.
