Obituary for Dorothy T. Salverda
DOROTHY TERESA SALVERDA, 91, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, September 13, 2018, at The Alverno Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, IA.
A private family graveside service will be held at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL, with Rev. John Byker officiating. There will be no visitation. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born April 1, 1927, in Driesum, Friesland, Netherlands to Julius T. and Eleonora (DeVries) Medenblik. She was educated in the Netherlands. Dorothy married John Salverda on May 8, 1964, in Fulton, IL. She was a seamstress, working at Paskie’s Furniture Store and at Moody’s Carpet Manor in Clinton, IA. Dorothy was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton.
Survivors include her husband, John; two sisters, Edith (Dale) Schaver of Fulton, IL and Iola Newendyke of New Boston, MO; two brothers, Lambert (Martha) Medenblik of Rock Hill, SC and William (Mary) Medenblik of Fulton, IL; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Medenblik of Indiana and Evelyn Medenblik of Fulton, IL.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Garrett, Auke, Lambertus, Romka, and Ronald Medenblik; one sister in infancy; one sister-in-law, Jean Medenblik; and one brother-in-law, Elwyn Newendyke.
