Obituary for Dorothy Funderburgh
DOROTHY GRACE "GRANNY" FUNDERBURGH, 90, of Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison, IL died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the Living Center. Dorothy was born March 7, 1916, in Elmira, IL to John and Cora (Delphy) Phillips. She was educated in the Elmira grade schools. Dorothy married Willis Funderburgh on April 28, 1934 in Hillsdale, IL. He died June 4, 1970. She worked at Elkay Manufacturing in Lanark, IL for 20 years. After her retirement she cooked at several restaurants in Chadwick, IL. She loved to cook and was the kitchen boss wherever she went. She was an Avid Cubs Fan. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother and she enjoyed having her grandchildren and great grandchildren around her. Survivors include four daughters, Frances Dessing of Mendota, IL; Ann (Mrs. Jeff) Peters of Freeport, IL; Carshon Funderburgh of Sterling, IL and Linda (Mrs. Randy) Smit of Morrison, IL; one son, David Funderburgh of Chadwick, IL; seventeen grandchildren; many great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Barb) Phillips of Galva, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; three sons, Willis Jr., John and Jim Funderburgh; a son-in-law, Robert Dessing; three sisters, Hazel Hegwood, Eva Hindeliter, Bertha Longhelt; three brothers, Willie, Harold and John Phillips.
