Obituary for Dorothy A. Zuidema
DOROTHY A. ZUIDEMA, 95, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the nursing home. Dorothy was born on August 20, 1914 in Garden Plain, IL to Edward and Kate (Schipper) Pessman. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. She married Alvin H. Zuidema on September 14, 1935 in Morrison, IL. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1991. Dorothy owned and operated, along with her late husband, Al"s Electric Service in Morrison, IL. Later she was employed by Peterson"s Drug Store in Morrison, IL. She also worked doing dog grooming of poodles. Dorothy was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL where she was active in the church"s Lydian Society and she was a prayer partner. She was a member of the Morrison Camera Club and she enjoyed camping and traveling. Dorothy was an avid dog lover. Survivors include two sons, Arlyn (Patricia D.) Zuidema of Morrison, IL and Duane (Sharon) Zuidema of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Steven D. Zuidema, Stanley (Diane) Zuidema, Sue (Jim) Snyder, Traci (Mark) Stratton, and Dan Zuidema; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Corneil Pessman of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Tena Feldt and two brothers, Jacob and Joseph Pessman.
