Obituary for Doris E. Kromrey
DORIS E. KROMREY, 84, of 310 Mosher Drive, Apt. 101, Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. Doris was born November 20, 1924 in Portland Township, IL, to Julius R. and Edith E. (Rollo) Mix. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1942 graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. Doris married William B. Morris on September 21, 1943. She later married Arthur L. "Mick" Kromrey on August 6, 1976 in Watertown, SD. He died June 7, 2001. She was employed by General Electric in Morrison, IL for 34 years, retiring in 1986. Doris was a volunteer for the Prophetstown Elementary School and Prophetstown Food Pantry. She was a member of the GEM Club, was an avid reader and sports fan. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching her grandchildren participate in sports. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Anderson of Prophetstown, IL and Merri (Dick) Harridge of Erie, IL; two sons, David (Jane) Morris of Prophetstown, IL and Bill (Marcia) Morris of Moline, IL; ten grandchildren, Susan (Adrian) Delgado, Jackie (Mike) Lauritzen, John Janssen, Justin Janssen, Melissa (Dan) Zanderson, Marti Morris, Matthew Morris, Elyse Morris, Michael Morris, and Dawn (Paul) Deschepper; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jean Seger of Boulder, CO and Mary (Ken) Thompson of Erie, IL; special friends, Harold Erdmann and Corky and Ardie Woolums all of Prophetstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; two brothers, William and Robert Mix.
