DONNA B. DYKSTRA, 92, of Fulton, IL, died Friday, February 23, 2024, at Resthave Home in Morrison, IL.
Her funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Catherine Martin, pastor of Fulton Presbyterian Church, officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Children’s Reading Program at Schmaling Library in Fulton.
Donna was born February 19, 1932, in Fulton, IL, to Henry and Katherine (DeWeerdt) Borgman. She was educated in the Fulton grade schools and attended Fulton High School. She married Gary J. Dykstra on November 27, 1952, in Fulton, IL. He died November 22, 2020. Donna was a dedicated homemaker, known for her warmth and kindness. She was a past member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton and had been attending Fulton Presbyterian Church. Donna, along with her husband, Gary, raised German Shepherds for many years. She was a member of YWCA, finding joy in swimming, and was renowned for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. She had a passion for expressing her love through handwritten cards, ensuring family and friends felt her caring presence. Donna’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Barb Dykstra, Connie (Larry) VenHuizen and Nancy (David) Malone all of Fulton, IL; one son, Dale Dykstra of Fulton, IL; three grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) VenHuizen, Kathy (Jon) Zehr, and Laura (Ryan) Medenblik; seven great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Jackson, Sadie, and Cooper Zehr, Isla VenHuizen and Kinleigh and Gracyn Medenblik.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; two sisters, LaVerta M. Balk and Evelyn J. Damhoff.
