Obituary for Donald Lee Shuman
DONALD LEE SHUMAN, 81, of Prophetstown, IL, died, Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL. His private family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL. A memorial has been established.
Donald was born June, 23, 1941, in Fairhaven, IL, to Orval and Marian (Eden) Shuman. He was educated in the Coleta and Milledgeville Schools. He married Trudy Roman on March 7, 1965, in Prophetstown, IL. She died September 30, 2004. Don was a mechanic all his life and most recently worked at Wonder Bread in Rock Falls, IL, for 29 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a participant and enthusiast of tractor pulls and was an avid car and truck hobbyist.
Survivors include one daughter, Tammy (Scott) Carlson of Walnut, IL; one son, Tony Shuman of Prophetstown, IL; three grandchildren, Kaleen Carlson, Keegan Carlson and Allan (Brittany) Carlson; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Arlene Martin of Rockfalls, IL, Katherine (Jon) Litwiller of Dalzell, IL, Ruth (Jim) Pitts of Milledgeville, IL, Janette Meier of Milledgeville, IL and Carol Devers of Rock Falls, IL ; five brothers, Wayne (Madeline) Shuman of Medota, IL, Chuck (Alice) Shuman of Rock Falls, IL, Allen (Mary) Shuman of Rock Falls, IL, Loren (Tammy) Shuman of Lanark, IL and David (Debra) Shuman of Coleta, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Trudy; one grandson, Aaron Carlson; one sister, Rita Shuman.
