Obituary for Donald E. Rus
DONALD E. RUS, 69, of The Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, IA; formerly of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Alverno. Don was born September 8, 1945, in Morrison, IL, to E. LeRoy and Anna (Dykstra) Rus. He was educated in the Fulton Grade schools and was a graduate of Fulton High School in 1963. He married Marcia R. Huizenga on January 14, 1966 in Fulton. Don stared working at Rus Brothers LP Gas at the age of 15. He then bought into the business with his father and brother Darrell. He retired from Rus Brothers LP in 2006. He was dedicated to customer service and his employees while working at Rus Brothers. He was a member of Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and morel mushroom hunting. He enjoyed drag racing and sports; he was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan and also followed all Fulton Steamer sporting events. He loved spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters, which were his pride and joy. Survivors include his wife, Marcia; one daughter, Christine Rus of Minneapolis, MN; one son, Michael Rus of Albany, IL; two granddaughters, Madisyn and Kylee Rus; two sisters, Betty (Dave) Meinema of Fulton and Barbara (Jody) Bielema of Fulton; one brother, Darrell (Sue) Rus of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arnold J. Rus.
