Obituary for Donald B. Scott
DONALD B. SCOTT, 81, of Dixon Healthcare Center, Dixon, IL, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. Don was born April 27, 1929, in Moline, IL, to Aubrey J. and Catherine Ethel (Spencer) Scott. He was a graduate of Prophetstown High School in Prophetstown, IL. He married Genelda L. Waite on May 18, 1949 in Prophetstown. Don served in the US Navy. Following his military service, he was employed as a TV repairman in Chicago, IL. He later returned to Prophetstown and started, owned and operated what became known as Prophetstown TV. Much later he was employed by Prescott Appliance and TV in Sterling, IL. Don was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, the Prophetstown Lions Club, and a charter member of the Prophet Hills Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and coaching for Little League and Legion Baseball. Survivors include his wife, Genelda, of Dixon, IL; one son, Bruce (Vanessa) Scott of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren, Angela (Travis) Grobe, Jacob (Sherri) Scott, Nathan Scott, Tessa Scott, Aaron (Lesli) McKenzie; six great grandchildren, Raegan, Kiersten & Morganne Grobe, Alyssa Scott, Hunter and Kade McKenzie; one sister, Nancy Mastergeorge of Seal Beach, CA; one brother, Marvin Scott of Prophetstown, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brent Scott; one brother, Dale Scott.
