Obituary for Dick Schaver
DICK SCHAVER, 98, of 818 15th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 in his home, surrounded by his family. Dick was born May 17, 1909 in Morrison, IL to William and Kate (Jansen) Schaver. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and attended Fulton High School. He married Inez Balk on August 29, 1935 in Fulton, IL. She died October 5, 1991. Dick was employed by the Curtis Company of Clinton IA as a door repairman for 26 years. He then was employed by Renier Piano and Organ Company in Clinton, IA for 10 years, and then by McDonnell Music, also of Clinton, for 10 years, retiring in 1974. Dick also did piano tuning for 30 years. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as church organist for 45 years; also as Sunday school teacher and treasurer for 38 years. He was a member of the Fulton Community Christian School (NKA Unity Christian School) for 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (Mrs. Denny) Rynders of Morrison, IL; three sons, Irvin (Donna) Schaver of Jacksonville, TX; Allen (Becky) Schaver of Jamestown, NC; Tim (Robin) Schaver of Moline, IL; seven grandchildren, Leah (Mrs. Sean) Ivory, Mark (Jodi) Rynders; Jeff Schaver; Susan (Mrs. Terry) Strittmater, Barbara Schaver; Erin Obrien, Eric (Heidi) Obrien; eleven great grandchildren, Emma, Samuel and Meredith Ivory; Claryssa, Mitchell and Derrick Rynders; Nicole, Ryan and Jessica Strittmater; Hailey and Addison Obrien; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Haan of Lanark, IL and Theresa (Mrs. Robert) Merema of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez; two grandsons, Derek Schaver and Peter Rynders; six sisters, Cornelia Dykhuizen, Grace Zaagman, Jennie Bielema, Minnie Houzenga, Anna Tjepkema, Pauline Westplate: four brothers, John, Gabriel, Clarence and Henry Schaver.
