Obituary for Delores J. Buck
DELORES J. BUCK, 78, of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, May 13, 2021, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL, with a memorial visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Pastor Andy Ploenzke, retired pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. A memorial has been established by the family.
Delores was born December 22, 1942, in Morrison, IL, to Raymond and Florence (Egert) Farrell. She was educated in the Jefferson Corners grade school and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. She attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School in Chicago, IL. Delores married Ronald P. Buck on January 14, 1961, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church in Prophetstown. She first started working as a secretary at Griffon Wheel Company in Chicago. She then spent her time raising her children and later worked at a few different factories in the Chicago area. Delores also worked various other jobs around the area, and most recently she worked at Casey’s in Prophetstown and as a secretary for the First Congregational Church in Prophetstown. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and Church Women United. She served on several committees and was a wonderful cook.
Survivors include her husband, Ron; one son, Dr. David (Shujiao) Buck of Skokie, IL; two grandchildren, Marina Buck of Atlanta, GA, and Brandon Buck of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Ruth Ross of Grand Detour, IL, and Donna (Chuck) Calderone of Prophetstown; a sister-in-law, Toni Buck of Prophetstown; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Frank Buck; two sisters, Lucille Dahlke and Marjorie Wyckstandt; three brothers, Roland Farrell, Harry Farrell, and in infancy, Frank Farrell; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Farrell and Beverly (Lee) Olalde; three brothers-in-law, Barry Buck, Lester “Happ” Ross, and Al Dahlke.
