Obituary for Deborah Schroeder
DEBORAH L. SCHROEDER, 53, of 407 W. Winfield, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. Deb was born on September 28, 1953, in Dixon, IL, to George and Irene (Szabo) Schofield. She attended St. Mary"s School in Dixon and graduated from Dixon High School in 1971. She received her nursing diploma from Swedish American Hospital in 1974. She married Steven Gordon on May 11, 1974 in Dixon. They were divorced in 1989. She later married Philip Schroeder on November 11, 2000 in Morrison, IL. Deb was employed with various doctors in Clinton, IA and the Morrison Community Hospital. She was then employed with the Whiteside County Health Department, where she had a rewarding career for 17 years. While there she held different nursing positions, and at the time of her illness she was a Quality Assurance Nurse. She enjoyed her job, her co-workers and her patients, and while there she made many lasting friendships. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Peter"s Lutheran Church in Morrison. Survivors include her husband, Philip; one daughter, Cari Gordon of Fulton, IL; one son, Nathan (Natalie) Gordon of Dixon, IL; two step-daughters, Jennifer (Mrs. Craig) Thomas of Highwood, IL and Sara (Mrs. Bruce) Colmark of Sterling, IL; one step-son, Andy (Cecelia) Schroeder of Morrison, IL; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy (Mrs. Larry) Riffle of Dixon, IL and Mary (Mrs. Tom) Jackson of WA; one brother, George (Nancy) Schofield of Dixon, IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
