Obituary for David L. Hayen
DAVID L. HAYEN, 81, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. David was born November 15, 1932, in Morrison, IL, to Arnold and Hilda (Nelson) Hayen. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1950 graduate of Morrison High School. David was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Leah "Boots" J. Brown on June 14, 1957, in Rock Falls, IL. He farmed in the rural Fulton, IL, area until 1974. He was then employed by the Whiteside County Highway Department from which he retired. David was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church in Morrison, IL, and a member of the Morrison VFW Post #8281. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Boots; one son, Greg (Linda Killean) Hayen of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Eric Hayen and Jamie, Sarah Mahoney and Jim, Trevor Underwood, Brett Cartee, and Weston Jones; four great-grandchildren, Alex Underwood, Izabel Underwood, Madison Hayen, DJ "David" Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Wendy L. Mahoney; one son, Steven Hayen; and one sister, Judy Quish.
