Obituary for David J. Ottosen

DAVID JOHN OTTOSEN, 56, of Morrison, Illinois, passed Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Morrison Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by a public visitation starting at 1:00. Interpreter services for the deaf will be provided, and information regarding accessing a live streaming of the service will be provided at www.bosmarenkes.com.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery, in Morrison.
David was born on November 24, 1964, in Freeport, Illinois, to Jack H. and Arlena M. (Fish) Ottosen. He graduated from the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville and from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York with a degree in photographic arts. David was a brave cancer survivor. He valued the friends he gained and the fun he shared as a member of the Quad Cities Deaf Club. David recently demonstrated his creativity through painting. He had talent in and a love for photography. He often shared his excellent baking and cooking skills. David was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Since his mother’s passing, David was a great help caring for and assisting his father.
Survivors include his father, Jack, of Morrison; two sisters, Lee Ann (Kurt) Harper of The Villages, Florida; Elaine (Gary) Baker of Liberty, Illinois; three brothers, Joel (Nancy) Ottosen of Yorkville, Illinois, Dale (Cynthia) Ottosen of Cayuga, New York and Karl (Aimee) Ottosen of Chicago, Illinois; twelve nieces and nephews, Michael Ottosen, Mandy Gonio, Jacob and Sarah Ottosen, Danielle and Brent Harper, Brian and Erik Ottosen and Kristin Ottosen Emling, Scott, Mark and Brett Baker; and nine great nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Arlena and grandparents.
