Obituary for David Geerts
DAVID GEERTS, 59, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at MercyOne Clinton in Clinton, IA.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Bettendorf in Bettendorf, IA, officiated by Rev. Dr. Cory Gonyo. A visitation will precede the service, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral. A graveside service will be the same day at 2:30 PM, at the Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany, IL. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association and First Baptist Church of Bettendorf.

David was born December 11, 1961, in Morrison, IL, to Leonard P. and Phyllis A. (Dornbush) Geerts. He was educated in the Albany Grade School in Albany, IL, and was a 1980 graduate of Fulton High School and also the Whiteside Area Vocational Center in Sterling, IL. He furthered his education and graduated from the Colorado School of Trades for Gunsmithing in Lakewood, CO. He married Julie A. Norman on September 17, 2006 in Davenport, IA. For 25 years David was employed by FedEx. He then owned and operated DLG Excavating. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bettendorf; a life-time member of the NRA, a member of the Morrison Sportsman Club and the NAVHDA, North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. He was an avid gun lover and enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and trap shooting. He also enjoyed being in his machine shed and tinkering with everything.
Survivors include his wife, Julie; two brothers, Leo (Deb) Geerts of Fulton and Wayne (Julie) Geerts of Albany; three nieces, Tatum (Joe) Wiersema, Jennifer Haney and Emily (Val) Cortes; six nephews, Jason (Amy) Heyvaert, Wyatt (Ann) Heyvaert, Tyler (Jamie) Geerts, Byron Geerts, Korbin Geerts, and David Haney; many great nieces and nephews; three sisters in law, Bonnie Norman of Madison, WI, Jodee Norman of Madison, WI and Holly (Steve) Haney of Hoffman Estates, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Darlene Geerts.
