Obituary for Daniel E. Ottens
DANIEL E. OTTENS, 83, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his home.
His graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Fulton Township Cemetery with Ken Renkes officiating. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to Clinton Humane Society.
Daniel was born January 14, 1939, in Luthersburg, PA. He was a 1957 graduate of Fulton High School. He married Janice R. Decker on March 27, 1957, in Fulton. She died March 16, 2020. He worked for J and D Construction, AArmco Buildings in Freeport, IL and Gateway 2000 Construction in Clinton, IA. He then worked at Best Western Inn and Suites in Clinton, IA. Dan enjoyed doing yardwork and discussing politics.
Survivors include one daughter, Tami (Bart) Leavens of Clinton, IA; three sons, James (Mary) Ottens, Dennis (Dawn Smith) Ottens, and Michael (Sue) Ottens all of Fulton, IL; six grandchildren, Amanda Ottens, Danielle (Patrick) Malone, Thomas Ottens, Elizabeth Ottens, Dennis Ottens II and Heather (Matt) Powell; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Bud) Smith of Sabula, IA and Sandra (Mike) Johnson of Cordova, IL; one brother, Phil (Wendy) Ottens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice; two sisters, Mary Hoyer and Geraldine Bruckman.
