Obituary for Dan E. Schroeder
DAN SCHROEDER, 69, of 404 Elm Street, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL. Dan was born September 24, 1937 in Morrison, to Lawrence and Annetta (Vanderlaan) Schroeder. He was educated in the Prairie Center School of rural Whiteside County, and graduated from Morrison High School in 1955. While in high school Dan worked on the family farm and was involved in 4-H and F.F.A. He served in the National Guard and also the Air Force Reserve. He married Emma M. Knoop on June 7, 1958 in Berwyn, IL. He worked for several years with Butcher Bros. Industrial Movers, and then worked for G.E. Company in Morrison for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Dan was a member of the General Electric Athletic Association and he enjoyed all sports. He golfed, bowled and liked fishing and hunting. His hobbies included cooking, baking and canning. Dan enjoyed nature and his favorite pastime was taking long rides around the countryside. Survivors include his wife, Emma; one sister, Judy (Mrs. Owen) McCulloh of Morrison; two brothers, Harvey (Ruth) Schroeder and Arlyn (Shirley) Schroeder, both of Morrison; a sister-in-law, Janet (Mrs. Owen) McKenzie; a brother-in-law, George (Dorothy) Knoop. He was preceded in death by his parents.
