Obituaries
DALE L. BALK, 75, of Fulton, IL, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at MercyOne Clinton in Clinton, IA. Cremation rites have been carried out, and no formal services will be held. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting with the necessary arrangements.
Dale was born on March 26, 1948, in Morrison, IL, to Jacob A. and Dorothy M. (Stuart) Balk. He received his education at Unity Christian Schools in Fulton and graduated from Fulton High School. Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For an extended period, he dedicated his professional life to the railroad industry and later contributed his skills to Brinkman's Building Center in Fulton until his retirement. He was a member of the Clinton AmVets, the VFW in Polo, IL, and the Elks Lodge #90 in Pueblo, CO. Dale was an avid hunter.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim (Adam) Vigil of Pueblo, CO; one son, Gregg (Rhonda) Balk of Pueblo, CO; three grandchildren, Courtnee, Aaron and Brendan; one great grandson, DJ; three sisters, Denise Schroeder of Knoxville, TN, Jolene (Dale) Sikkema of Fulton, IL and Amy (Tony) Fowler of Lake Havasu City, AZ; one brother, Edwin (Sandra) Balk of Thomson, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roland Balk.
