Obituary for Dale A. Burkholder
DALE A. BURKHOLDER, 71, of 305 E. High Street, Morrison, IL, died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at his residence. Dale was born September 10, 1935 in Morrison, IL, to Donald L. and Annie G. (Habben) Burkholder. He was educated in the Round Grove, McElrath, Malvern and Franklin Schools of rural Whiteside County. He graduated from Morrison High School in 1953, the first graduating class from the new high school building. He married Yvonne R. Doorenbos on October 10, 1955 in Morrison. Dale worked for E.I. Dupont Company in Clinton, IA for three years. He then farmed, first in the Denrock area from 1958 to 1960, and then in the Round Grove area until 1981. He was also employed by General Electric of Morrison, IL, retiring in 1996. In 1981, Dale and his family moved to Morrison and in 1988 he built a new home at 305 E. High Street. He enjoyed farming, gardening and fishing. He also enjoyed antique tractors and attending steam shows. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Debra (Mrs. Patrick) Graeve of Omaha, NE, Deann (Mrs. Rodney) Van Zuiden of Morrison, IL; four sons, Dean (Alicia) Burkholder of Morrison, IL, David (Dawn) Burkholder of Bryant, IA, Daryl (Laurie) Burkholder of Morrison, IL and Daniel (Cyndi) Burkholder of Camanche, IA; his mother, Annie Burkholder of Morrison, IL; twelve grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; one sister Diana (Mrs. Paul) Griener of Portage, WI; one brother, Dennis (Arlene) Burkholder of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his father.
