Obituary for D. George Snyder
D. GEORGE SNYDER, 83, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
George was born July 27, 1939, in Ustick Township, IL, to Cornelius and Grace (Smith) Snyder. He was educated in the rural Morrison Grade Schools and attended Morrison High School. He married Carolyn R. Snyder on March 12, 1960, in Camanche, IA. They just celebrated 63 years of marriage. George worked for Northwestern Steel & Wire for over 30 years. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. George prided himself on keeping his yard immaculate and he loved feeding the birds and squirrels. He also enjoyed gardening, especially his tomato plants. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He liked to fish and watch his grandchildren play ball. Above all, George’s #1 joy in life was spending time with and making his family happy.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; three daughters, Kathy Hughes of Morrison, IL, Sandy (Jeff) King of Clinton, IA and Bonnie (Rex) Given of Morrison, IL; two sons, Jeff (Punk) Snyder of Fulton, IL and Gene (Brandi Gonzalez) Snyder of Clinton, IA; eight grandchildren, Jessica and Justin King; Michael and Jenelle Given; Alicia (Mario) Jaramillo and Shauna (Tyler) Manon, Memo and Adriana Gonzalez; three step-granddaughters, Jamie, Shanna & Andrea Given; seven great-grandchildren, Jaxten Sigel, Amya and Jenna Jaramillo, Ariana and Ashton Neilsen, Bray and Talon Manon; nine step great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Aryln Snyder of Rockford, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Kristy and Pamela Snyder; one son-in-law, Everett “Burr” Hughes; four brothers, Kenneth, Raymond, Bill and James Snyder
