Obituary for Clarence H. Dykema
CLARENCE H. "BUD" DYKEMA, 85, of Castle Rock, Co, formerly of Morrison, IL, died November 28, 2009 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, CO. Clarence was born December 18, 1923, in Morrison, IL to Clarence and Lola (Diehl) Dykema. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1942 graduate of Morrison High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942, serving in WWII. He married Carmen A. James on October 16, 1946, in Morrison. She died February 19, 2004. Bud was a plumbing apprentice to Ross Bogott in Morrison, IL and then was the owner/operator of Smaltz Bros. Plumbing in Fulton, IL. Bud was a lay missionary of the Presbyterian Church on the Navajo Reservation in Ganado, AZ. He was part of a team building a hospital for the Navajos and he ran the power plant for the Mission. Bud was also a Plumbing Instructor for the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute in Albuquerque, NM. He was a lifelong member of the Fulton American Legion Post #402. Survivors include one daughter, Ann (Greg) Miller of Castle Rock, CO; one son, James (Jo) Dykema of San Marcos, CA; seven grandchildren, Luke, Ryan, and Jake Miller; Christy Dykema; Michael Robbins, Christine (Don) Crichley, Bree-ann (Brad) Hermosillo; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen and a sister, Shirley Johnson
