Obituary for Clarence E. Johnson
CLARENCE E. JOHNSON, 93, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the nursing home. Clarence was born October 28, 1916 in Flanagan, IL, to William and Minnie (Kutzner) Johnson. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. Clarence married Della M. Pruis on April 10, 1951 in Morrison. Clarence had a variety of jobs in his youth. He worked for many farmers and in 1942, he started working construction, helping build an atomic bomb plant in the state of Washington and the soybean plant in Clinton, IA. He also worked for a short time at General Electric in Morrison and the wire mill in Sterling, IL. He then farmed in the rural Morrison area, until his retirement in 1970. After retiring from farming, he worked for FS in Lyndon. Clarence was a member of the Emmanul Reformed Church in Morrison and a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Della of Morrison; one daughter, Arla (Bill) Korver of Maurice, IA; two sons, Alan Johnson of Morrison and Arnold (Tim) Johnson of Alamogordo, NM; three grandsons, Tony (Karen) Korver, Jeremy Korver, and Trenton Korver; three great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Haley, and Noah Korver; three step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Johnson; one sister-in-law, Helen Johnson; and one nephew, Robert Johnson.
