Obituary for Clarence A. Reiley
CLARENCE A. REILEY, 79, of Prophetstown, IL, died peacefully Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at his home.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, April 16, 2021, and from 10:00 AM until the start of the service, Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. A memorial has been established by the family.

Clarence was born July 1, 1941, in Sterling, IL, to James O. and Lenore A. (Landwehr) Reiley. He was educated in the Prophetstown schools and was a 1959 graduate of Prophetstown High School. During high school, Clarence was the quarterback for the football team, point guard for the basketball team, and was the original #10. He married Rita Redell in Prophetstown, IL, on January 23, 1965. They later divorced. After high school, he worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL. In 1966 Clarence started working for Contel Telephone Company where he retired after a career of 30 plus years. He was a longtime coach of Little League, Babe Ruth, and the American Legion Post #522 baseball teams. He was very instrumental in many of the youth sports in Prophetstown. He was an avid sports fan, loved the Boston Celtics, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also was very active in the Prophetstown Athletic Boosters. Clarence was a true outdoors man and a true river rat, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping along the Rock River. Additionally, he made several fishing trips to Lake Nungesser in Ontario, Canada, where he also guided tours of the lake.

Survivors include two sons, Lenny (Kim) Reiley of Prophetstown and Darrick (Mandy) Reiley of Bartonville, IL; four grandchildren, Cassie (Connor) Saad, Corrie Reiley, Conner Reiley, and James Reiley; two step grandchildren, Bailey and Brison Camp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James Reiley.
