Obituary for Clare V. Chapin
CLARE V. CHAPIN, 91, of 505 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison. Clare was born January 19, 1915, in Morrison, IL, to Milo W. and Lydia L. (Sawyer) Chapin. He was educated in the Morrison Grade and High Schools. He married Hazel "Lucille" Hubbard on Sept. 16, 1934 in Valparaiso, IN. Clare owned and operated the Red & White Grocery Store on Main Street in Morrison for over 50 years. Later he was employed with the Whiteside County Sheriffs Dept. in the control room, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and was past president of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce. Clare loved to show and train his dogs. Survivors include his wife, Lucille; two sons, Jere (Nancy) Chapin of Ripon, WI and Gil (Mary Ellen) Chapin of Oshkosh, WI; six grandchildren, Brad (Mary) Chapin, Stacy (Mrs. Steve) Klegon, Jennifer (Mrs. Tim) Aither, Elizabeth (Mrs. Bob) Gordon, Jane Chapin, Mary Louise Chapin; nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, David Kent; one sister, Marian Connell; one brother, Leslie Chapin.
