Obituary for Clara J. Matje
CLARA J. MATJE, 89, of Bluff Terrace Care Facility, Clinton, IA, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Clara was born March 1, 1918 in Union Grove Township, IL, to John and Gertie (Boelkens) Kramer. She was educated in Thomson, IL grade schools. Clara married Richard K. "Dick" Matje on June 24, 1949 in Nashua, IA. He died December 29, 1988. She was employed for 25 years as a meter maid for the City of Clinton, IA, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, IL and the church"s Priscilla Circle. Survivors include two sons, Robert (Evelyn) Matje of Clinton, IA and Ronald (Kim) Matje of Fulton, IL; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Bradley, Megan and Erin Matje; Jaren, Samantha, and Monica Matje; and one great grandchild, Caleb Matje. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; one sister, Beulah Kramer and one brother, Charles Kramer.
