Obituary for Cheryl Elaine Nielsen
CHERYL ELAINE NIELSEN, 76, of Tampico, IL, died Friday, March 23, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Leon United Methodist Church in Prophetstown, IL with Rev. Jan Shaulis officiating. There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery in Prophetstown. A memorial has been established by the family.
Cheryl was born January 25, 1942, in Tampico, IL, to Walter and Genevieve (Echelbarger) Klockenga. She attended Stonewell School District and was a 1959 graduate of Tampico High School. Cheryl married Marlin W. Nielsen on February 14, 1960 at Leon United Methodist Church in Prophetstown, IL. Cheryl drove school buses for the Prophetstown School District for 30 years. She enjoyed helping her husband on their family farm. Cheryl was a lifetime member of the Leon United Methodist Church and served on many of the church committees. She loved baking, Swedish weaving, and sending birthday and anniversary cards to all her family and friends. She loved being involved in her grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include her husband, Marlin; two sons, Greg (Vicky) Nielsen and Ed (Kris) Nielsen both of Tampico, IL; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
