CHARLES E. MILLER, JR., 86, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at his home.
Chuck requested that no visitation or memorial services be held. Cremation rites have been accorded; his ashes will remain with his wife until her passing. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Please remember him in private moments and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor may be directed to the landscaping project at Journey Church in Clinton, IA.
Charles was born September 2, 1938, in Spring Valley, IL, to Charles E. and Christine M. (Bielema) Miller. He was educated in the Clystic grade school and later graduated from Fulton High School. On January 29, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia J. Kettler in Fulton, IL, and together they built a beautiful life over nearly 70 years of marriage. A hardworking and dedicated man, Charles began his career at Clinton Corn before moving to Nitrin in Cordova, eventually retiring after 27 years of service at Agri-King. There, he was instrumental in developing a new laboratory for Del Curley, a forward-thinking project at the time. His involvement extended beyond his professional life as he actively participated in the Fulton JayCees, Fulton Recreation Corporation, Fulton Historical Society, and was a charter member of the Fulton Country Club, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. He was also a devoted member of Journey Church. Chuck enjoyed all sports, especially playing golf, and was known for his ability to fix anything that was broken. He also loved tending to his yard. Throughout their married years, Chuck and Pat, attended numerous sporting events, but especially enjoyed supporting their children’s and grandchildren’s games; Chuck was so proud of all of their accomplishments. He and Pat shared a love for travel, visiting all 50 states and making memories with extended family on annual lake trips. One of the highlights of his later years was fulfilling his bucket list dream of visiting Egypt's pyramids in 2010. In retirement, he and Pat spent 23 winters enjoying the sunshine in Florida and Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; three sons, Michael (Janet) Miller of Villa Hills, KY, Charles Miller,III of Fulton, IL and Matthew (Katherin) Miller of Vistavia Hills, AL; he was blessed with ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Boelkens of Elgin, IL.
He was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis (Elmer) Boonstra; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth (Phyllis) Miller; brother-in-law, LaVern Boelkens.
