Obituary for Catherine M. Sweenie
CATHERINE M. SWEENIE, 100, of Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at the center. Catherine was born June 18, 1913, in Chicago, IL, to Adolph W. and Mary C. (Eklin) Carlson. She was a graduate of Marinette High School in Marinette, WI and the Westside Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. She married William H. Sweenie Jr. on December 31, 1935, in Chicago. He died November 2, 1953. Catherine was first employed by the Morrison Community Hospital as a registered nurse. She later was employed by Dr. David A. Fell in Morrison, IL, as a registered office nurse, until her retirement. Catherine was a member of the Garden Plain Presbyterian Church in Fulton, IL. Survivors include one son, David (Joyce) Sweenie of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Dan Sweenie, Don (Bridget) Sweenie, Dean (Melissa) Sweenie, Dawn (Brian) Davis, and Jill (Mark) Bramm; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kylee Sweenie, Sydney and Kayla Sweenie, Logan Davis, Caeleb, Caelyn and Caylee Bramm; one sister, Mildred Reynolds, of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; one grandson, in infancy; two brothers, Wilbur and Verner Carlson.
