Obituary for Carolyn A. Lankford
CAROLYN A. LANKFORD, 83, of Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Big Meadows Nursing Home.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 22, 2023, at CrossView Church in Fulton, IL, with Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of CrossView Church in Fulton, IL, officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2023,at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL, at a later date. A memorial has been established to the Fulton Food Pantry.
Carolyn was born September 1, 1940, in Brookfield, MO, to Andrew and Elsie (Watts) Patterson. She was educated in the Brookfield, MO, schools and was a 1958 graduate of Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, IL. In 1959, she married James Laursen, and after their divorce, she later married Philip Leonhardt in 1967. He died in 1971. On March 7, 1975, Carolyn married Billy H. Lankford, who preceded her in death on February 7, 2013. Carolyn held various positions, including employment at a Chevrolet Dealership in Brookfield, MO, FS in Cordova, IL, PFC in Camanche, IA, and Swiss Colony in Clinton, IA. She was an active member of CrossView Church in Fulton, IL. She generously volunteered her time at the Fulton Food Pantry and the Windmill Cultural Center. Her pets held a special place in her heart and she enjoyed sewing, camping, baking, traveling, and attending church activities. She cherished time spent with family and friends, particularly her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Jim (Mary Fish) Laursen of Clinton, IA, Ken (Tammy) Laursen of Wheatland, IA and Kevin (Deanna) Leonhardt of Fulton, IL; one daughter-in-law, Deanna (Jake) Lankford VanZuiden of Camanche, IA; three stepdaughters, Tammy Slagle of TN, Mary Beth (Chad) Buck of TN and Patti O’Rourke of TN, and their families; eleven grandchildren, Misty (Jeff) Ogata, Ki Laursen, Leland Laursen, James Laursen, Kristall Laursen, Lance Laursen, Jarek (Tayler) Leonhardt and Corinne Leonhardt, Stephanie Lankford, Makayla Lankford, Collin VanZuiden,; two great-grandchildren; Samantha and Jesse Ogata; one brother, Andrew Patterson of Ludlow, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Philip Leonhardt and Billy Lankford; one son, William “Bill” R. Lankford; three sisters, Lois Bowen, Edith Bowen and Mary Boley.
