Obituary for Carol Sue Stash

CAROL SUE STASH, 69, of Clinton, IA, formerly of Albany, IL, died Monday, May 1, 2023, at The Alverno in Clinton, IA.


A private family funeral service will be held at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Ken Renkes officiating. A private family visitation will precede the service. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer’s Association.


Carol was born April 20, 1954, in Clinton, IA, to Jacob J. and Jeanette (Buikema) Schaver. She was educated in the Albany Grade School and was a graduate of Erie High School. She graduated from Illinois Central College in Peoria, IL, and later earned her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Findlay University in Findlay, OH. Carol was employed for 20 years at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, as a physical therapist. She then moved home to be with family and continued working as a physical therapist at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, IA. She was a member of Garden Plain Presbyterian Church. Carol was an avid animal lover and she enjoyed cooking and baking.


Survivors include four brothers, Kenneth W. (Barbara) Schaver of Morrison, IL, Donald J. (Marilyn) Schaver of Albany, IL, Harlan J. (Evelyn) Schaver of Fulton, IL and Robert W. (Deb) Schaver of Albany.


She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Darlene Rathje; one brother-in-law, James Rathje.
