Obituary for Carol F. Winkler
CAROL F. WINKLER, 94, of Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Allure of Prophetstown.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February, 22, 2022, at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church in Prophetstown with Rev. Joey Garcea officiating. The visitation will precede the service starting at 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery in Prophetstown.

Carol was born February 7, 1928, in Sterling, IL, to Ralph and Hazel L. (Lane) Winkler. She was educated in the Centerville Elementary School in Leon, IL, and the Hoopole Grade School in Hoopole, IL. She was a graduate of Metropolitan Church Association in Waukesha, IL, and she later received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. Carol taught elementary special education for 26 years. She was a teacher for three years at Dillon School in Rock Falls, IL, and four years at Loraine School in Geneseo, IL. She later taught at Centerville School in Leon, IL, and ended her teaching career at Morris School in Morris, IL. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church in Prophetstown and supported African Missionary volunteers. She was an activity and crafts volunteer for Allure of Prophetstown, formerly known as the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center. She enjoyed gardening, music, and writing letters to family and friends on a daily basis. She loved anything fuzzy with four legs. Carol also enjoyed watching all professional sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bulls Fan, but her favorite team was always the winners.

Survivors include one niece, Cheryl (Mark) Patterson; two nephews, William (Beverly) Brown, Jr. and Douglas (Lisa) Brown; one foster niece, Marlyss (Ronald) Fisher; one foster nephew, Kenneth Fullick; many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Gladys Winkler and sister, Harriet (William) Brown, Sr.; one brother, Ray Winkler in infancy; one foster brother, Harvey Fullick; one foster nephew, Leon Fullick; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
