Obituary for Carmel L. Renkes
CARMEL L. RENKES, 85, a long time resident of Morrison, IL, died in her sleep, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Silverado Senior Living, The Woodlands, TX. Carmel was born December 13, 1925 in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to Ovide and Yvonne (Dupre") Rousseau. She graduated from St. John"s Academy in Rhode Island in 1943. Carmel married Robert J. Renkes on October 6, 1956 in Morrison, IL. He died June 21, 1968. Robert and Carmel moved permanently to Morrison during the summer of 1964, where they raised their two children. She enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Carmel was also gifted in needlework and bestowed many of her creations to her family. She was an active member of St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Morrison. Survivors include one daughter, Janice Drosopoulos of Morrison, IL; one son, Jason (Wendy) Renkes of Spring, TX; five grandchildren, Thomas and Matthew Drosopoulos; Ian and Tara Renkes; and David Garner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Renkes and one sister, Jackie Bibeault.
