Obituary for C. Neil Giffin
C. NEIL GIFFIN, 77, of Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, December 15, 2017, at Prophets River Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown. Neil was born May 2, 1940, in Aledo, IL, to Everett L. and Ruth (Cabeen) Giffin. He was educated in the Aledo grade school and was a 1958 graduate of Aledo High School. He also attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. Neil served in the U.S. Army. He married Virginia E. Detra on January 8, 1971, in Prophetstown, IL. Neil was a feed salesman for the Walnut Grove Company in Prophetstown. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Prophetstown and a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church. Neil enjoyed coon hunting. He also was an avid Aledo Green Dragon Football fan and White Sox fan. Neil never met a person he didnt know and everyone knew where they stood with him. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Tammie (Cory) Oleson of Prophetstown and Susan Russell of Oswego, NY; one son, Paul (Shari) Giffin of Morrison, IL; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Debra (Gary) Finch of Aledo, IL and Barbara (Allen) Haim of San Rafael, CA.
