Obituary for Betty Koenes
BETTY KOENES, 101, of Harbor Crest Home, Fulton, IL died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the home. Betty was born July 30, 1910 in Whiteside County, IL to Henry and Anna (Voss) Damhoff. She was educated in the Whiteside County and Fulton Grade Schools. She married Herman Koenes on June 22, 1929 in Fulton, IL. He died November 30, 2002. Betty was a charter member of the Second Reformed Church in Fulton, a member of the church"s Home Department, and a member of the Fulton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Knott of Fulton, IL and Shirley (Robert) Buikema of Fulton, IL; one daughter-in-law, Alice Koenes of Clinton, IA; seven grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) Knott, Debbie (Bob) Houzenga, Cynthia (Mark) Clarkson, Lori (Steve) Colschen, Lisa (Jeff) Witt, Sandra (Merle) Miller, and Robert (Barbara) Koenes; seventeen great grandchildren; and eighteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; one son, Robert E. Koenes; one son-in-law, Ben Knott; five brothers, John, Harold, James, Donald, and Charles Damhoff.
